This one's for my mom and Karly

Steak−n−Shake Chili
2 tablespoons oil
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 can onion soup
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons cocoa
2 cans kidney beans
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 cup cola (Coke, Pepsi, or generic)
Brown ground beef and salt in oil. Put soup in blender, blend
for 1 minute. Add all to crock pot. Drain beef and beans before
adding to pot. Let simmer on low for 6 hours or on high for 2 hours.

I don't "do" chili. There's something about chili powder that turns my stomach. But I know that Karly loves Steak 'n' Shake Chili and so does my mom. My mom doesn't know my blog though so she got the email. :)

Awesome! I've never tried making chili with cola in it before! Must try that recipe. I was actually thinking about making chili this week, but then I reminded myself that it is 8,000 degrees out and maybe I should wait a month or two. :)

Oh, and you'll be happy to do know that I did not get food poisoning after that late night Chili Mac a while back. :)

Casey will love you for this!! He loves Steak & Shake and it's chili 3- & 5-way. We've got one five minutes from our house but I'm getting more and more weird-ed out by eating in fast food places. I like knowing how my food was prepared and by whom. Not to mention the quality of the ingredients. Tell me this is not a sign of getting old!
