10 Things for 2010

I am not a resolution person.  FG makes one every year.  It has been the same several years. Not all in a row, but heck, I've known him long enough now that this one has just come up a few times.  He gives up soda completely. Sometimes only until his birthday in April, other times all year.  He's reached his goal every time.  If he has other resolutions, I don't know what they are because he's kept them to himself.  I just don't make them because I'm weak not that dedicated.   So here's a silly little list of 10 things.

10 THINGS I ENJOY
  1. baking/cooking
  2. spending summer evenings outside with the family either playing or just relaxing with an ice cream cone/glass of wine watching the kids draw with chalk, ride the bikes, play in the yard
  3. watching tv
  4. reading
  5. snuggling with my kids
  6. snuggling with FG
  7. playing board games with the kids (as long as they don't freak if someone else wins, which means usually one of them is freaking because they can't BOTH win.)
  8. travelling
  9. grocery shopping (I know, I'm nuts)
  10. entertaining
10 THINGS I DO NOT ENJOY
  1. yardwork
  2. gardening
  3. vacuuming
  4. getting up to an alarm clock
  5. driving
  6. exercising
  7. cleaning up after my animals
  8. feeling like I yell at my kids too much
  9. family meals (this stems from DS's sensory issues and his pickiness about food/eating. I feel like I spend my entire meal telling one kid or the other to stop doing something or to eat or I'm getting up to get moremilkketchuppapertowelstocleanupspills etc.)
  10. being in debt/broke
10 SONGS THAT COME UP ON MY IPOD ON SHUFFLE
  1. The Memory Remains - Metallica
  2. Get Down - Everlast
  3. Don't You - Candlebox
  4. hit the floor - linkin park
  5. Walk This Way - Aerosmith
  6. Behind Those Eyes - 3 Doors Down
  7. Money Bought - Nickelback
  8. Burnin' for you - Blue Oyster Cult
  9. Rocket Queen - Guns n Roses
  10. Pain - Three Days Grace
(This is too fun - gonna keep going for another 10)
  1. All Mixed Up - 311
  2. Save Me - Shinedown
  3. We Die Young - Alice in Chains
  4. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough - Michael Jackson
  5. Empire - Queensryche
  6. breakout - foo fighters
  7. Bust a Move - Young MC (ohhhh, college, *sigh*)
  8. It's Been Awhile - Staind
  9. Hot Hot Hot!!! - The Cure
  10. Prison Sex - Tool
  11. Hump de Bump - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Audioslave came up next. I have several of those as well as several Chili Peppers on there.  I'm totally surprised that Van Halen, Elton John, Motley Crue and Jimi Hendrix didn't come up.  Or my favorite - Son of a Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield didn't come up!  Hmmm, can you say eclectic?

10 FAVORITE FOODS
  1. chocolate
  2. wine (yes, I count it)
  3. tea (again, I count it. I consume enough of it, it gets it's own category. Hot, cold - whatever I'll drink it)
  4. my spaghetti sauce
  5. steak
  6. potatoes
  7. cheese
  8. pork (I like almost all kinds from sausage to chops)
  9. perfect ripe peaches
  10. bread
10 FAVORITE TV CHANNELS
  1. whichever our show is on ;) gotta keep us in business!
  2. Food Network
  3. Discovery Channel
  4. History Channel
  5. A&E
  6. ABC (Good Morning America)
  7. National Geographic
  8. Bravo
  9. CBS (been watching Survivor long enough and we love The Amazing Race)
  10. HGTV
10 THINGS I WOULD LIKE TO DO IN 2010
  1. Go to Disney World in the fall with not only my kids and FG but my parents and MIL as well.  I'm slightly obsessing about it at the moment.
  2. Take a trip with just FG - we have one picked out and we are both really really hoping it will be able to happen. If not this year, then maybe in a year for my, gulp, 40th birthday. We'll still take some sort of trip alone this year!
  3. Read some better books (right now I read fluff because that's all my brain can handle at night before bed)
  4. Learn to like exercise or at least tolerate it more. I'd love to be a runner but I barely enjoy taking my walks!
  5. Help FG build our business and get some of it's bills paid down
  6. Clean out my file cabinets
  7. Hang curtains on the remaining curtain-less windows in our house. It's been over 9 years already, come on, make a decision!
  8. Keep trying new recipes and foods.
  9. Quit the toystore.
  10. Continue to work on being a more tolerant, understanding, better parent.  That's been on my "list" for 9 years. I'm blessed to have these kids, I need to remember that when it gets frustrating.
So those are just some silly little things for 2010.  I'm not going to tag anyone but I'd love to see your lists!  If you do it, leave me a comment here so I can read yours too!

I've been robbed!

I feel so cheated.

Check out #1 on my list.

Busy crazy day here that started with meeting friends for breakfast before getting both kids to school. Now I'm full and lethargic and it just feels so odd to start the day like that. Then DS forgot to take his backpack with us and he was a minute or two late to class. I brought him his backpack while he was on his morning recess break. This afternoon both kids get the flu mist squirted up their nose. So I have to pick him up from school early and he'll miss dissecting an owl pellet. I think today is just going to be a weird weird day all around. I am wearing my new jewelry that I made over the weekend. I will have to have one of the kids take my picture. I used very pretty blue stone beads with a touch of silver. Though I think I'm going to re-string them. I'm not pleased with the spacing.

One of those 6 silly things Meme thingamabob's

Just because I know you are all dying to know these things about me....

  1. I have a hard time cooking without an apron on. I absolutely cannot bake without one on. In fact, you will often find me wearing an apron from late afternoon until I put the kids to bed on a weekday and nearly all day on a weekend if I'm home and in the kitchen.

  2. I always rip off the necessary T.P. prior to peeing. Don't know why but I just noticed that I do that. Weird huh?

  3. FG has a new nickname for me, "CSI". He says I am the freaking CSI of this house and know what goes on when I'm not looking or not here. Example: We got home Saturday night and I said, "K got M to bring her down some carrot cake." (K is the babysitter, M is her friend that lives down the street). FG shook his head wondering how the hell I figured that one out. I can figure out all sorts of things that go on when I'm not around and I've been known to glance in the garbage to figure it out.

  4. I have an irrational fear that a plane will crash into the house.

  5. I have an irrational fear that some "bad guy" will scale my front porch and get up on the lower roof, sneak into DD's bedroom and steal her. I should fear that she, as a teen, will go the opposite way. Bars will be installed on her windows in the next few years.

  6. I try to do all my laundry in one day as well as get it folded and put away. When I hang things on the clothesline, I do it in an order so it's easier to accomplish that. (things that need ironing go on the line first so they get taken off last and put immediately into the ironing basket, then FG's golf shirts because they need to sit on top of the pile or they get all wonky in the collar, then the kids shorts/skirts etc, then my the kids t-shirts, then mine, then FG's t-shirts so they are taken off the line first and in the bottom of the basket. Once washed and dried, he is responsible for his own clothes - I don't fold or put them away I just pile them on his side of the bed. I do fold the kids and put DD's away but DS gets a basket in his room to put his own away.) Yes, I would agree I am very anal about the laundry process.

  7. And a bonus, I like to clean the whole house all in one day. That gives me the power to look at my family and tell them how I worked my ass off cleaning the house and I would like it to stay clean for longer than 5 minutes. It usually lasts about 10 before someone does something to mess it up.

Tagged - Meme

I was tagged awhile ago by Christina. I promised I would get to it and now I finally have the kids occupied with some new Play Doh (yay! Not tv!) and a few minutes to get to it.

The Rules:
Link the person who tagged you
Mention the rules on your blog
Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours
Tag 6 fellow bloggers by linking them
Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged
So here goes. I'm not very exciting though - you have been forewarned!

1. If I were ever to lipsync in front of a crowd I would do Dusty Springfield's "Son of a Preacher Man." When it comes up on my playlist (on my fake ipod) I replay it at least twice and channel my inner lady in a long sequined dress w/ a big blond bouffant.
2. I always have to be able to see a clock. (I think I've mentioned that one before).
3. It takes me forever to change my routine of things. Showering for example is always the same. If I add something or change something to my entire morning routine, it takes me a long time to remember to do it and for it to feel natural.
4. I bake a lot but don't eat a lot of what I bake. I love to make cookies but usually once they are past a day old, I don't eat them. I think after I've spent so much time and effort on them, I'm just over it.
5. When I had my son, it took so long and with quite a bit of heartache before hand. Once he was here I would sit in the middle of the night and nurse him and stare at his face. I would tell myself to remember what he looked like for when he was gone. Somewhere inside I just could not believe he was really going to stay around. Now he's 7 and there are days I WISH he would go away from me for awhile. I have to remind myself of those moments in the middle of the night so long ago.
6. I sleep with a throw pillow between my knees and a teddy bear under my shoulder. I've become so used to it that I have trouble sleeping without them when we stay somewhere else.

I'm not going to tag anyone in particular. I would love for everyone to post their interesting quirks simply so I can feel better about myself.
